The Park Hyatt is located a few minutes walk behind the old Treasury building at the end of Collins Street. Set away from the main central business district and the road, The Park Hyatt seems to be enveloped in a quiet atmosphere.
Once inside the building, The Lounge & Garden is in the middle of the lobby. I was seated at the far end of the lounge, near the piano. Unfortunately, there was no live music while I was there.
The low points of this tea were the large tour groups milling back and forth through the lobby (taking a million photos and talking loudly) and the lack of service. Once again, the waitstaff was virtually unseen (which seems to be a trend in Australia). There also wasn’t any garden that I noticed, contrary to the name.
The Park Hyatt wouldn’t be one of my top choices in Melbourne, but wouldn’t be the worst choice you could make either.
