While in the Netherlands, it was imperative for me to find good macarons. (When is it not?) After doing a bit of research I found Poptasi.
Poptasi is a specialty macaron shop near the Albert Cuyp Market. They also sell their macarons at The Chocolate Bakery, across from the Munttoren. Personally, I thought the ones at the Albert Cuyp Market were better mainly because they were fresher and had more options to choose from. But the macarons at The Chocolate Bakery were still delicious.
The macarons had a lovely crunch while still having a chewy center. Poptasi offers a number of staple flavors while also combining a number of interesting flavors together (black sesame passionfruit, marsala). They even have a stroopwafel flavored macaron, a Netherlands specialty! The warning on the box was absolutely warranted.
I definitely had to go a number of times, but didn’t keep photographic evidence.
If you’re in Amsterdam and need a macaron fix, head to Poptasi. You won’t be disappointed!
