If you’re looking for a little bit of American flavor in London, The Hummingbird Bakery will deliver. Started in 2004 in Notting Hill, The Hummingbird Bakery has quickly expanded to 6 locations in the city and farther afield to the Middle East.
Made fresh daily with a homemade flavor, each location has its own bakers and kitchen onsite. The bakery bakes American classics like cupcakes, brownies, cakes, pies, cheesecakes, and more.
Very impressive display cases.
I decided to go with a classic, Red Velvet cupcake. (Their tea was forgettable. I’d say, skip the tea and get another cupcake instead!)
The cupcake was moist with a rich cream cheese frosting. It certainly lived up to the press. A lot of times in London, places will be popular but you end up being disappointed when you actually try them. Their Red Velvet tasted like the US and was delightful.
It was a pretty dense cupcake, so it would be pretty difficult to eat more than one at a time. But you can always get them to go!
I’ll have to go back and try some of the other flavors, but I recommend going and buying 1… or 6!
*Disclosure: I went to the Soho location that only has limited counter seating on the wall. This location is probably best for a pick up and go.

10:00am to 7:00pm Sunday
Other locations include: South Kensington, Notting Hill, Islington, Spitalfields, and Richmond in Surrey.
